Girls Night!

Tonight Allie and I just wanted to have a good old fashioned Girl's Night! Of course we head straight to our local grocery store, Foodland! Honestly, could there be a better name for a grocery store? We went with no shopping list, which usually results in very bad news! We started filling our basket with bad food, but by the end of our journey through the wonderful land of food, we had a basket of healthy food! I don't know how we did it, but we had made good decisions for once with out a shopping list!!! We came home and turned on some french music and began cooking! Below is what we cooked and the wonderful movie we ended our night with! Yay for a fun Girl's night!
cut up your vegetables! Our favorites are bell peppers, broccoli, zucchini, and mushrooms! We also added some yummy diced tomatoes as well!

Cook your chicken or shrimp with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary, and some basil. Once it is fully cooked and browned add your vegetables starting with your mushrooms. Add your vegetables one at a time because some cook differently than others you need to do this in the right order. After the mushrooms add the broccoli then the diced tomatoes. The zucchini and bell peppers come last!

Add a little more of any of your seasonings as needed!

Add a little cream.
We cooked our pasta at the same time as the veggies, chicken, and sauce and added the pasta as soon as we were done with the sauce.

Add a little Parmesan and your ready to serve!
Our yummy delicious meal! We like to have some pepper, lemon juice, and Parmesan nearby to add!

And of course we can't go a girl's night with out a movie! This is my favorite movie and Allie had never seen it!

Us

We love Us! They are the most adorable couple! They met through AJ Rafael who is also an amazing singer and got married! They used to do music separately, but now they sing together! You should look them up on youtube to hear more of their music!

Officially Obsessed: Adobe Illustrator

Thank the Heavens above for Adobe Illustrator.

Who would have known such a fantastic thing existed??

Adobe Illustrator is soo easy to use. It's like a coloring book for grown ups. You can make all sorts of stuff! Recently I've been making posters with it. It's super fun to mess around with effects and lighting.

Here's a recent creation of mine... its simple, but I like it. It looks like me and Emily. haha :)

Give Illustrator a try!

Officially Obsessed: Fishtail Braids

Uh oh kids. I have another obsession...

FISHTAIL BRAIDS!
wanna know why?

cause they're so easy- but they look so complicated. Plus, when you braid your hair before bed, you wake up with legit mermaid hair. And who wouldn't want that?

Here's a tutorial (by Lauren Conrad nonetheless) SO YOU CAN LOOK LIKE A MERMAID TOO!

Stir fry

We recently have been trying to be much healthier and have found that stir fry is a quick and delicious way of being healthier!

Start out by cooking your chicken with
garlic salt or powder
pepper
chinese 5 spice
ginger
then add some barbeque or teriyaki sauce and some brown sugar, we also like to add some pineapple at this point, but don't add juice because it will already have enough from the pineapple as it cooks
add some red onions, broccoli, carrots, and snow peas or any other veggies you want!
once those are cooked up add your bell peppers last
if you add bell peppers to early they won't have that wonderful crispiness about them
put over some rice and you have a great dinner ready in about 10 min!

Delicious cream sauce!

One of our favorites is cream sauce for pasta! We hope you enjoy it too!
It only takes a few simple ingredients and then we add a bunch of random stuff to the sauce to make it healthier or yummier!

Warning: This is very heavy and is not smart to eat on a diet no matter how many vegetables you put in it!

So the main things you will need are:
heavy cream
milk(if you don't want it to heavy)
Parmesan cheese(my personal favorite ingredient)
butter
olive oil
salt
fresh pepper
garlic salt or powder(if you are using powder you won't use as much)
basil
oregano
rosemary

We like to add:
mushrooms
chicken
shrmp
zucchini(if you add this it is goot to fry it up on the side and add on top when serving or it will get mushy)
diced tomatoes(to make a tomato creamy sauce)
lemon juice(added after for a little extra flavor)
ground beef
broccoli(add at the end or your sauce will only taste like broccoli)

For chicken cream sauce:
you want to fry up the chicken with your spices, butter, and olive oil first!
Once your chicken is cooked this is when you could add vegetables
once you have everything kind of cooked add your cream and milk...let it cook, but make sure it doesn't burn on the pan or it will get gross. Also make sure you don't boil it too high or it will curdle.
Once the cream and milk start to get a little thicker you want to add any extra spices if your sauce doesn't have enough flavor and then slowly whisk in your parmesan into the sauce
pour over your pasta and add a little lemon juice to kick it up

For ground beef:
Basically make it the same way. but parmesan will be left out.
We really like mushrooms in this sauce

For shrimp:
Once again it is very similar to the chicken cream sauce, but you would want to cook this on the side and add it at the end or it will have a strange texture.
This is way better with zucchini and lemon juice too!

Solutions: Oily hair? no problem!

if your hair gets oily, just add some baby powder

Music!

Just found Katie Costello! She has a great voice!

Solutions: Love the food you are eating, but getting full too fast? no problem!

when you get full to fast, just eat faster!

Dancing Through Life with Allie and Emily

We have been wanting to start this blog for quite some time now, and we are finally making it! Allie and I are just a couple of girls going to school on the beautiful island of Oahu. We feel so blessed to be roommates in a little studio on the beach. We really can't complain about much. We have great weather, the beach, and are always cooking something up in our little kitchen. There is probably never a moment we don't have sand in our hair. We are hoping to share random parts of life mostly on food, music, and fashion because that's what we love most.
